I loved Outdoor Ed because I made new friends and it created stronger bonds. It was an amazing experience! I kissed 3 banana slugs, learned new songs around the camp fire, got lots of exercise, and the food was great.

My favorite memory was going on a night hike into the woods. It led to a big field where there were lots of baby deer!

Science Camp was an amazing place to learn about nature and to have fun. My favorite part was the tide pools/beach trip. We got to see a lot of interesting creatures. The food was really good too! I wish I could go back again. Every kid should go.

Science Camp was, by far, one of the best experiences I’ve had.  We got hours of exploring a large section of tidepools on the coast, finding crabs, fish, and more!  Not even rain could dampen our experience.

My favorite part was my amazing counselor! It was great to get away for a few nights with my friends and hang out in nature. We also enjoyed playing lots of games together.

I absolutely loved outdoor ed because of all of the fun things I got to do. Some of the things I got to do were a river walk, where you do a hike and get to cool off in the river and splash around, night ceremonies, where you sing songs and talk about all the fun you had during the day, and finally just having fun with my cabinmates! We definitely got closer throughout that week. Also the food is awesome! Did you know there is a GAGA ball court? Well, if any kid had the opportunity to go to camp, they should definitely go, because it builds strong friendships and great memories.

I enjoyed playing LOTS of card games! I thought the camp songs were fun to sing and memorable as I got older. I wish I could have been a counselor in high school, but it didn’t work out with finals.

I really enjoyed being outdoors with my friends and learning about wildlife. My favorite part about Outdoor Ed was visiting the tide pools. We caught crabs and studied fish. I loved going to a new place each day.  The forest hikes and beach walks were amazing. I stayed in Cabin 12 and Acorn was the name of our nature guide. Every moment was fun!

I loved the banana slugs and giving them a kiss! The hikes were superfun, and taking my shoes off and walking along the tree trunks.

From Lydiksen Parents

In 2016, my daughter was off to Science Camp (then called Outdoor Education). When asked to write the check for the camp, I was nervous. It was nine months away and I had no idea if Anna would enjoy the experience. I was also worried that she was not mature enough.  I fully admit I was skeptical about the impact it would have on my child’s education. As the school year progressed and it came time to head off to Camp Loma Mar, I stood in front of the school and cried as the buses pulled away. The week went by quickly and Anna returned home a changed person. She was more independent and self sufficient. Her self esteem and confidence had grown and so had her love of science. The experience was so memorable, that Anna took our family back to the same tide pools and forests in the summer. She took on the role of the naturalists and shared her new knowledge. Her enthusiasm was thrilling to see. I feel like it really helped Anna succeed with the transition from elementary school to middle school. I am thankful for the amazing experience that my daughter had at Science Camp three years ago and I can’t wait for the thrilling opportunity for my son in May of 2019.
